The medieval fortress city offers a broad cultural base and a lively, inspiring atmosphere in which the literary offerings of Sprachsalz find open ears, minds and hearts. Fittingly, the town already bears salt in the form of a salt barrel in its coat of arms. Sprachsalz is still the only international literature festival in Austria with authors from different continents. The Kultur Quartier is the central festival venue for the three festival days and readings are also held in our neighbouring wine bar Vitus & Urban.
