Schönbrunn Zoo

Schönbrunn Zoo was founded in 1752 by Emperor Franz I Stephan of Lorraine, the husband of Maria Theresa, making it the oldest zoo in the world. It is part of the Schönbrunn UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been honoured four times in a row as the best zoo in Europe. A variety of animal species from all over the world and unique breeding successes attract around 2 million visitors to the zoo every year.
