The Stadthalle Wien comprises several event venues, sports halls and multi-purpose halls and is one of Austria’s best-known event locations. Here you will find events of all kinds: from classical concerts or rock concerts to musicals, ballet and wrestling events. There is also something for the little ones, which is why the arte Hotel Wien is also perfect as a family hotel.

Around the Ringstrasse
The route is approx. 5.5 km long –
The Ringstrasse runs in a circle around Vienna’s historic city centre – you can start the tour wherever you like! If you start at the golden Johann Strauss Monument in the Stadtpark, you will soon see magnificent Viennese landmarks such as the State Opera, the Hofburg, the Volksgarten, the Kunsthistorische Museum and the Naturhistorische Museum, the Parliament, the City Hall, the Burgtheater and the University.

Danube Canal cycle path
The route is approx. 17 km long –
The Danube Canal runs right through Vienna and attracts visitors with beach bars on the promenade as well as Vienna’s largest graffiti scene! The best place to start is at the artistically designed waste incineration plant in Spittelau.

Wiental cycle path
The route is approx. 13 km long –
Are there too many cars in Vienna for you? Then the Wiental cycle path is the perfect cycle tour for you! This route also includes the entrance to the Lainzer Tiergarten, a unique nature reserve.

Belvedere Palace

The Belvedere Palaces were built at the beginning of the 18th century by the famous baroque architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663 – 1736). The palace ensemble, consisting of the Upper and Lower Belvedere with orangery and stables as well as an extensive garden, is one of the most beautiful Baroque buildings in Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hofburg Vienna

For over 600 years, the Vienna Hofburg was not only the centre of the Habsburg Empire, but above all the main residence of the imperial family. Today, the Austrian Federal President as well as several ministers and state secretaries serve the state in the magnificent state rooms. The former imperial winter residence is also home to numerous important cultural institutions, such as the Sisi Museum.

Natural History Museum

One of the most important museums in the world – the Vienna Natural History Museum. Its earliest collections are over 250 years old. Today, 20 million artefacts are under scientific care. A magnificent palace of natural science has housed these constantly growing collections since 1889. The interplay of building, figurines and paintings, furniture and precious exhibits is largely preserved in its original state, making the museum, as a museum of museums, a cultural and historical treasure that is already exceptional today.

Austrian Parliament

The Austrian Parliament in Vienna is the seat of the National Assembly and consists of two chambers: the National Council and the Federal Council. The imposing building, built in neoclassical style, is located on the Ringstrasse boulevard. The parliament is a centre of political decision-making and public debate in Austria. Visitors can take part in guided tours to learn more about the history and functions of the Austrian legislature and view the magnificent rooms, such as the Great Redoutensaal and the Chamber of Deputies.

City Hall

Vienna City Hall on Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz in Vienna’s 1st district Innere Stadt was built from 1872 to 1883 according to designs by architect Friedrich von Schmidt. It houses the offices of the Mayor of Vienna and the municipal council. The municipal councillors also meet in the function of the state parliament.

Schönbrunn Palace
The imperial Schönbrunn Palace complex, former summer residence of the Habsburgs, with its magnificent architecture, opulent rooms, outbuildings and extensive park is one of Austria’s most important cultural monuments due to its long and eventful history. The entire listed ensemble, which includes the palace, the park with its numerous park buildings like the Gloriette, fountains and figures, as well as the zoo, the oldest in the world, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List at the end of 1996.

St Stephen’s Cathedral

St Charles’ Church

St Charles’ Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Vienna’s 4th district of Wieden. It is located on the south side of Karlsplatz, close to the city centre, and is one of the most important baroque church buildings north of the Alps and one of Vienna’s landmarks. Since Karlsplatz was restored as an ensemble at the end of the 1980s, the Karlskirche has not only made an impact with its dome and the two flanking relief columns, but also as an architectural counterweight to the buildings of the Musikverein and the Technical University.

Votive Church

Vienna’s Votive Church is considered one of the most important neo-Gothic religious buildings in the world. The construction of the “Ringstrasse Cathedral” next to the main building of Vienna University is linked to the assassination attempt on the young Emperor Franz Joseph I on 18 February 1853 by the journeyman tailor János Libényi.

Danube Island

Schönbrunn Zoo

Schönbrunn Zoo was founded in 1752 by Emperor Franz I Stephan of Lorraine, the husband of Maria Theresa, making it the oldest zoo in the world. It is part of the Schönbrunn UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been honoured four times in a row as the best zoo in Europe. A variety of animal species from all over the world and unique breeding successes attract around 2 million visitors to the zoo every year. Visitors have the opportunity to experience numerous feedings live or take part in special guided tours, such as a night tour. Mariahilfer Strasse

Mariahilfer Strasse is synonymous with “strolling and shopping” in Vienna. Over 350 shops and restaurants of all kinds can be found along its 1.8 km length, inviting you to shop and linger. The largest shopping mile in Vienna has been partially pedestrianised since 2013, and the lower part of the street is a meeting zone where all road users have equal rights. The shopping street can be reached by underground line U3 at various points between Westbahnhof and Volkstheater or at the U2 MuseumsQuartier station.
