About Kati Castillo
On 17 June 2027, we look forward to welcoming Kati Castillo back to our arte Hotel Salzburg. Following her first performance at artist’s place in May 2026, the Salzburg-based singer-songwriter is returning to our hu:goes14 rooftop bar to bring her unique sound back high above the city’s rooftops.
Kati Castillo embodies a modern blend of pop, R&B and soul, consistently characterised by Latin influences. Born and raised in Salzburg as the daughter of a Dominican mother and a Carinthian father, she blends different musical worlds to create a highly personal style. Her songs thrive on emotional melodies, honest lyrics and a voice that sounds equally soulful, powerful and approachable. She draws inspiration from artists such as Rosalía, SZA and Selena Quintanilla, amongst others.
Music and performance have been a part of Kati’s life since childhood. As well as singing and dancing, she played the violin for several years and later furthered her artistic training at institutions including the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London and the PMT Dance Studio in New York. This versatility is also reflected in her music, which cannot be clearly categorised into a single genre but deliberately moves between various influences.
Kati made a major breakthrough on the Austrian music scene in 2025 with her single ‘Celular’. The song was created at the Matches Music Songwriting Camp on Lake Attersee in collaboration with producer Johannes Madl and combines modern indie pop with Latin vibes and Spanish lyrics. ‘Celular’ found its way onto FM4’s playlist and also made it onto the FM4 charts. In November 2025, her first EP, “ftft – for the first time”, was released. On it, Kati explores themes such as first heartbreak, vulnerability, self-discovery and personal development. Songs such as “For The First Time”, “Sanity” and “I Don’t Need Saving” reveal a very personal and emotional side to the artist.
