As part of our ‘artists’ place’ series of events, the hu:goes14 at the arte Hotel Salzburg will once again serve as a stage for special musical moments high above the city’s rooftops. This time, we’re looking forward to Elias Raffael & die coolen Socken – a band that blends modern Austropop with singer-songwriter elements and subtle jazz influences.

Elias Raffael, a musician, singer, composer and teacher from Carinthia who is now based in Salzburg, is deeply committed to songwriting as a form of artistic expression. Together with his band, this results in a distinctive sound that is at times delicate and melancholic, at others powerful, groovy and atmospheric. Piano and guitar are combined with drums, bass, electric zither, percussion and other instrumental colours such as violin, wind instruments and backing vocals.

The lyrics, too, are about more than just catchy melodies: The lyrics explore themes ranging from self-discovery and social issues to interpersonal dynamics – at times quiet and contemplative, at others direct, humorous and with a touch of sarcastic, provocative wit. It is precisely this blend that creates a concert which invites you to listen, feel, reflect and smile.
