Every year at the end of October, a festival with urban flair and an international focus takes place in Vienna’s city centre. The event attracts numerous guests from Austria and abroad and had around 92,000 visitors before the pandemic. The Viennale strives to be both a festival for a broad audience interested in cinema and to present and discuss the current state of international film culture at a high aesthetic and political level. This unique combination is what makes the Viennale so special.
